Operating costs for the foundation have also been adjusted downward. This decision stems from a steep decline in market value due to the economic downturn. Assuming a quick rebound is not on the horizon, it is unlikely that this year’s grants payout will exceed $500,000. To date, a total of $127,930 has been paid in grants, leaving a likely balance of $372,070 for the year for new grants and outstanding commitments.

In the meantime, staff and trustees and our Lowell fellow will continue spend a good portion of time in the coming year in meeting with grantees and colleagues in Lowell.
